Houthi-Planted Landmine Explosion: Civilian Severely Injured in Al-Jawf
A civilian sustained severe injuries following the explosion of a landmine planted by Houthi militias in the Khab and Al-Sha’af district of Al-Jawf governorate.

The incident occurred when Saleh Humran, a man in his fifties, and his companions were traveling in a civilian vehicle along a desert road in the Al-Yatmah area. Two of his companions escaped unharmed.

Reports from the Yemeni Landmine Observatory indicate a rise in landmine explosions planted by the Houthis across several governorates, including Al-Hodeidah, Hajjah, and Al-Jawf. These incidents have resulted in numerous civilian casualties and heightened concerns over the dangers posed by landmines scattered across various regions.

Human rights organizations are calling for intensified awareness campaigns and greater efforts to clear these mines that continue to threaten civilian lives. They are also urging accountability for those involved in planting them.

In this context, the Saudi-funded “Masam” Mine Clearance Project announced that its engineering teams have successfully cleared 472,688 mines, unexploded ordnance, and improvised explosive devices since the project began in June 2018. As of December 13, the initiative has cleared a total of 62,808,362 square meters of Yemeni land.
