Teacher Protests in Taiz and Aden: Delayed Salaries Spark Outrage
Teachers in the Yemeni cities of Taiz and Aden have staged widespread protests, demanding the payment of their overdue salaries, which have not been paid for several months. In Taiz, teachers gathered outside the Governor's office, calling on the government to urgently pay their delayed salaries. The prolonged delay has worsened the teachers' financial and living conditions and has disrupted the educational process due to the ongoing economic crisis.
Meanwhile, in Aden, protests intensified in front of the Ministry of Education, with teachers urging the government to implement regular salary payments and improve their living conditions. Protesters emphasized that the neglect of the education sector threatens the future of Yemen’s generations.
Although no official statement has been issued by the government, experts point out that the economic crisis and lack of resources are the main reasons behind the delayed salaries. Teachers warned that if their demands are not met, the educational system in the country could face a complete shutdown.
