Turkey Prepares to Deploy "SİPER" Air Defense System in Syria
Reports indicate that Turkey is preparing to deploy the "SİPER" air defense system in Syria, at the request of Damascus, to help secure its airspace. The system includes the "SİPER 2" missile, developed by Roketsan in collaboration with ASELSAN, with a range of over 150 kilometers.
In this context, it was also announced that the "SİPER 3" missile is being developed, which will further enhance the capabilities of the system. Professor Dr. Haluk Görgün, President of the Turkish Defense Industry Authority, confirmed that the "SİPER-1" system, a long-range deterrent air defense system, has officially joined the Turkish Armed Forces' arsenal. It is designed to provide effective protection against fighter jets, cruise missiles, and a range of aerial threats.
Additionally, reports indicate that the "SİPER 2" missile offers superior features compared to the "SİPER 1." While the "SİPER 2" missile has a range exceeding 150 kilometers, the "SİPER 1" has a range of about 100 kilometers. The larger diameter of the "SİPER 2" allows for a more powerful rocket motor and an advanced radar seeker, providing better performance against low radar cross-section targets.
Future "SİPER" missiles are expected to feature improved ballistic missile defense capabilities, new guidance features, and enhanced maneuverability.
