Clashes in Maashiq Palace Result in Southern Transitional Council Forces Taking Control of a Security Point
A state of tension prevailed this morning, Tuesday, at the gates of Maashiq Palace in the temporary capital, Aden, following clashes between forces affiliated with the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and members of the Presidential Protection Forces. According to local reports from "Aden Al-Ghad" newspaper, the tensions primarily occurred at the upper part of the palace.
The reports indicate that confrontations broke out between STC forces and the Presidential Protection Battalion stationed in the upper section of the presidential palace, leading to heightened military readiness in the area.
After a series of brief skirmishes, STC forces succeeded in taking control of a security point previously held by the Presidential Protection Forces, forcing the latter to withdraw to the upper part of the palace. This development marks a significant shift in the balance of power at the site.
As of now, the reasons behind this sudden escalation remain unclear, with observers awaiting further details regarding the unfolding situation.
