Anger Erupts in Mukalla: Protests Sweep the City Amid Power Outages and Soaring Fuel Prices
The city of Mukalla, capital of Yemen’s Hadramaut governorate, witnessed massive public protests this evening as hundreds of residents took to the streets, blocking major roads in response to worsening living conditions and a deepening services crisis.

Demonstrators voiced fierce criticism of local authorities, demanding urgent action to address prolonged electricity outages, skyrocketing fuel prices, and the collapse of basic services such as healthcare, water supply, and education.

Protesters accused provincial officials of corruption and mismanagement, describing the situation as a “total collapse” that threatens social stability. They warned that popular anger is reaching a tipping point and vowed to continue demonstrating until their demands are met.

These demonstrations mirror a broader wave of unrest spreading across other southern governorates, where citizens are increasingly fed up with government inaction and deteriorating living standards.
