Houthi Group Claims Joint U.S.-UK Airstrikes
On Friday morning, the Houthi group announced that five joint U.S.-UK airstrikes targeted the Harf Sufyan area in the Amran province, northern Yemen. Houthi media outlets referred to these strikes as part of what they described as the "American aggression."
The group did not provide detailed information regarding casualties or damage caused by the attacks, leaving uncertainty about their impact on the region.
Meanwhile, the region has witnessed an escalation in Houthi attacks on cargo ships, which they claim is in solidarity with Gaza. Since November 2023, the Houthis have been targeting ships in the Red Sea with missiles and drones.
In response to the Houthi threats, Washington and London have been conducting airstrikes on what they describe as Houthi positions in Yemen since the beginning of 2024.
The Houthi group announced that it considers all U.S. and UK vessels to be military targets, expanding its attacks to include ships in the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean.
