U.S. Central Command Discusses Efforts to Counter Violent Extremist Groups, Including ISIS and Houthi Threats
On Tuesday, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) discussed ongoing efforts to combat violent extremist groups such as ISIS and Iran-backed Houthi militants.

According to a statement from CENTCOM, top military leaders and officials participated in the quarterly conference at Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, where they reviewed operational and security conditions within their area of responsibility.

The meeting comes at a time of increasing Houthi attacks on international maritime navigation, prompting the United States and its allies to ramp up both military operations and diplomatic efforts to deter these threats.

On multiple occasions, Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi, the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council in Yemen, has emphasized that supporting the Yemeni government in restoring state institutions, securing vital ports, and strengthening its ability to enforce security and stability across its territory is the best way to safeguard regional waters and international shipping lanes.
