Hadramout Tribal Alliance Reaffirms Self-Rule Demand and Raises Urgent Issues
On Saturday, the Hadramout Tribal Alliance reaffirmed its full commitment to the demand for autonomy for Hadramout Governorate, issuing a final statement following a wide-reaching meeting held in the city of Mukalla, attended by prominent tribal and social leaders.
The statement emphasized that achieving autonomy for Hadramout had become a "critical necessity and an irreversible popular will," urging both the regional and international community, especially Saudi Arabia, to respond immediately to the aspirations of the people of Hadramout and take urgent steps toward implementing this demand.
The statement further emphasized the alliance’s firm rejection of any return of Hadramout "under the dominance of other parties in any form," referring to the political and administrative disputes the governorate had faced in recent years.
The alliance considered "the protection and defense of Hadramout as a legitimate right," calling for the opening of recruitment opportunities for the governorate’s residents to form a sufficient force to ensure the region’s security and stability.
The statement also included urgent demands for sufficient electricity supply to Hadramout, with a capacity of no less than 500 megawatts, given the ongoing power cuts that have significantly affected daily life and public services in the region.
