Spanish Newspaper Reveals Trump's Houthi Truce: Tactical Silence Before Gulf Tour
The Spanish newspaper El Salto has predicted that the temporary military truce between the United States and the Houthi group in Yemen will be short-lived. The paper reports that President Donald Trump's decision to halt airstrikes on Houthi targets was strategically timed to ensure a quiet atmosphere ahead of his visit to Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states.
According to the report, Trump aims to present himself as a peacemaker by “silencing the guns” in the Gulf before his arrival. However, sources close to the White House suggest the real motive behind the trip is primarily economic rather than diplomatic.
The newspaper also highlighted Israel’s dissatisfaction with the ceasefire, as it reportedly does not include halting Houthi attacks on Israeli targets. In fact, the Houthi movement has declared its intention to continue missile launches until “Israel’s defense capabilities are neutralized.”
White House envoy to Israel, Mike Huckabee, told an Israeli television channel that the United States has no obligation to consult with Israel on agreements meant to protect U.S. ships in the Red Sea. He added that the U.S. would not respond to Houthi attacks unless American citizens in Israel — estimated at 700,000 — were harmed.
