US Authorities Cancel Arrangements for Yemeni Leader Al-Zubaidi in New York over Secession Attempts
US authorities on Tuesday announced the cancellation of all official arrangements related to Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council member, Aidros Al-Zubaidi, following his participation in the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Sources close to the matter revealed that Al-Zubaidi was asked to leave the US immediately after the official period of Yemen's participation ended. This decision came after authorities received information suggesting that he planned to hold pre-arranged meetings with Yemeni communities and several US officials in the State Department and Congress to promote secessionist agendas. Sources confirmed that the move came as a major shock to Al-Zubaidi, effectively blocking all his planned efforts.

The US authorities also confiscated secessionist flags that Al-Zubaidi had brought with him for his planned meetings, as an additional measure to prevent any activity considered illegal or threatening to Yemen’s national unity.

This comes amid internal tensions within the Presidential Leadership Council following Al-Zubaidi’s demands for ministerial appointments in favor of the Southern Transitional Council and his withdrawal from key meetings held in Riyadh, raising controversy within the Council.

Presidential Council Chairman Rashad Al-Alimi met with US Charge d’Affaires Jonathan Peitcha, who reaffirmed Washington’s commitment to supporting the unity of the Council and rejecting any attempts to undermine it, signaling the US stance on secessionist moves.

Political analysts say these US measures reflect Washington’s focus on ensuring the stability of the Presidential Council and the unity of state institutions amid significant internal and regional challenges facing Yemen.
