Yemeni Islah Party Leaders Meet U.S. Ambassador: “Reviving Political Life is Crucial”
Abdulrazzaq Al-Hijri, senior member of Yemen’s Islah Party and head of its parliamentary bloc, met today (Monday) with the U.S. Ambassador to Yemen, Steven Fagin, to discuss political developments and national unity efforts.

The meeting was attended by Enssaf Mayo, Deputy Head of the Parliamentary Bloc and head of Islah’s Aden Executive Office, along with Shura Council member Salah Batis.

During the talks, Al-Hijri expressed appreciation for the U.S. Embassy’s statement condemning the armed raid by forces affiliated with the Southern Transitional Council (STC) on a women’s event organized by Islah’s Women’s Department in Mukalla, Hadhramaut, on September 27. The embassy had described the incident as a “violation of the core values of freedom of expression and assembly.”

Al-Hijri praised the U.S. position supporting the revival of political life and the role of political parties as the legitimate political carriers of the state, in contrast to the Houthi militia’s systematic destruction of Yemen’s political environment.

He further commended U.S. support for Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council and government, emphasizing the importance of maintaining the council’s unity and rallying all national forces to restore state institutions, stability, and regional peace.

Al-Hijri also highlighted the need to strengthen Yemen’s government capacity in economic and developmental affairs, address living conditions, and protect the value of the national currency.

Touching on regional issues, Al-Hijri praised former President Donald Trump’s efforts to halt the “genocidal war” waged by Israel against the Palestinian people in Gaza and called for renewed peace initiatives.

For his part, Ambassador Fagin reaffirmed the United States’ strong support for Yemen’s legitimate government, the unity of the Presidential Leadership Council, and the country’s stability, stressing the importance of continuing economic reforms in the interest of the Yemeni people.
