Yemen Records 30,000 Cancer Cases Annually: Health Minister Announces Comprehensive Strategy to Combat the Disease
Yemen's Minister of Public Health and Population, Dr. Qasem Buhaybah, revealed that the country records 30,000 new cancer cases each year, warning that this situation requires the implementation of effective preventive measures.
In his statement to Al Jazeera.net, Buhaybah pointed out that the spread of cancer in Yemen has reached alarming levels, negatively affecting the health sector, which is already facing many challenges due to the ongoing conflict.
The minister emphasized the urgent need for a comprehensive strategy to combat this disease.
In an important step, the official announcement of the National Cancer Control Strategy for 2025-2030 was made in the temporary capital, Aden.
This strategy covers several topics related to the spread of the disease, along with the necessary measures that must be taken as soon as possible.
Buhaybah also announced plans to launch a number of developmental projects to combat cancer in Aden and other areas, stressing the importance of cooperation between governorates to establish specialized treatment centers.
The minister affirmed the Ministry of Health’s commitment to introducing new vaccines aimed at reducing the spread of diseases and called for enhancing preventive measures to reduce cancer rates and provide treatment centers to achieve the desired goals in addressing this health challenge.
