Egypt Denies Allegations of Military Intervention in Yemen
Egypt has dismissed reports suggesting its intention to participate in military operations against the Houthi group in Yemen. The denial coincides with growing economic pressures on Suez Canal revenues due to the ongoing crisis in the Red Sea since last December.

Speaking to "Cairo News," an Egyptian official stated that the claims made in Israeli media regarding Egypt's readiness to intervene militarily in Yemen are baseless. The official emphasized that these reports are misleading and lack factual accuracy.

Israeli reports had alleged that Egypt is planning airstrikes against the Houthis, citing economic losses stemming from escalating threats to the Suez Canal—a vital artery for global trade. The reports further suggested that Egypt has shown a willingness to play an active role in the Yemeni conflict, including preparing aircraft for potential air operations, amid rising concerns over the safety of navigation in the Red Sea.

Meanwhile, Suez Canal revenues have declined from $9.4 billion in the 2022-2023 fiscal year to $7.2 billion in 2023-2024, according to official statements released last October.
