International Report: U.S. Airstrikes in Northern Yemen Kill Over 400 Houthi Fighters
A newly released international report revealed that U.S. airstrikes targeting Houthi militants in northern Yemen between March 15 and May 5, 2025, resulted in the deaths of 515 individuals, including 384 Houthi fighters and 131 civilians.
According to the Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project (ACLED), the United States carried out 461 airstrikes under Operation Rugged Rider, one of the most intense air campaigns in the region in recent years.
The report states that the concentrated air assault forced the Houthis to cease their Red Sea attacks on May 6, marking a significant shift in the maritime security situation that had been disrupted by months of Houthi aggression.
The strikes targeted weapons depots, missile launchers, and command centers, and were conducted using carrier-based fighter jets and drones from U.S. bases in the region.
U.S. officials emphasized that the operation aimed not only to deter threats but to eliminate the Houthis' operational capacity to target international shipping routes.
