25 Houthi Vehicles Head to Marib… Signs of a New Escalation Surge
Iran-backed Houthi militias have launched a significant military buildup toward the frontlines around Marib, eastern Yemen, suggesting preparations for a renewed escalation in the conflict.
According to field and local sources, the group mobilized 18 armored vehicles and 7 trucks loaded with new recruits from Sana’a and Amran provinces, aiming to compensate for previous battlefield losses.
The convoys are reportedly moving through remote and winding routes to avoid detection by reconnaissance drones and surveillance aircraft. Sources also indicate the Houthis are forcibly recruiting young men under economic pressure in areas under their control.
Marib remains a strategic stronghold for government forces and local resistance, housing vital oil and gas infrastructure critical to Yemen's economy and sovereignty.
A military source from the internationally recognized Yemeni government stated that government forces are on high alert and monitoring Houthi movements closely. The source dismissed the likelihood of these reinforcements shifting the balance of power.
This military escalation comes amid stalled peace efforts and growing tensions across various frontlines, with the conflict now in its eighth year and no political resolution in sight.
