New Military Force Emerges in Hadramout: “Hadramout Protection Forces” Hold First Graduation
On Thursday morning, the Hadramout Plateau witnessed a major military ceremony marking the graduation of the first batch of the newly formed "Hadramout Protection Forces." The unit was established under the leadership of Sheikh Omar bin Habreesh Al-Alyi, head of the Hadramout Tribes Alliance.
Held in an open desert area, the ceremony featured a disciplined military parade showcasing the combat readiness and training of the new recruits, along with an organized display of vehicles and armored units.
The "Hadramout Protection Forces" now join the growing list of armed entities in Yemen, alongside government troops, Houthi forces, the Southern Transitional Council, and UAE-backed forces loyal to Tareq Saleh.
While some view the move as a step towards local self-security in Hadramout, others express concern that such developments could deepen national divisions and further fragment Yemen into competing zones of control.
Observers warn that without a unified national framework, the emergence of local militias may lead to new internal conflicts, undermining any prospects for a comprehensive political settlement.
