President Al-Alimi Orders Legal Action Against Ministers Over Unconstitutional Political Positions
A senior source at the Yemeni Presidency Office revealed that President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, has closely reviewed recent statements and declarations issued by several ministers and executive officials that fall outside their constitutional mandates.
According to the source, these statements constitute clear violations of the constitutional and legal frameworks governing the transitional phase, and undermine the unity of sovereign decision-making and the institutional integrity of the state.
President Al-Alimi has instructed the government and relevant authorities to take all necessary legal and administrative measures against any actions or practices that attempt to impose political agendas beyond constitutional frameworks or harm the legal standing of the state.
The presidential directives stressed the absolute obligation of all executive officials to adhere strictly to the decisions of the Presidential Leadership Council, the government program, and the governing references of the transitional period, foremost among them the Declaration of Power Transfer and the Riyadh Agreement.
The source emphasized that the Presidential Leadership Council remains the sole legitimate authority recognized nationally, regionally, and internationally to determine the state’s supreme political positions. Exploiting official positions for political gain was described as a grave breach of the constitution, public office duties, and national consensus.
Such violations, the source added, threaten the unity of the executive authority, social stability, and the legal foundations of the Yemeni state, necessitating firm accountability and appropriate legal sanctions.
In this context, President Al-Alimi called on partners within the Southern Transitional Council to exercise wisdom, prioritize dialogue, and avoid unilateral actions that could expose the Yemeni people, national interests, and regional and international security to unprecedented risks.
He further urged all political forces and Yemenis at large to rally around the national state project, unite efforts to restore state institutions, end the Iran-backed Houthi coup, and alleviate the ongoing humanitarian suffering across the country.
"What is happening in Yemen? What caused the war? And who ignited it?
