Yemeni Parties Declare Support for Al-Alimi’s Sovereign Decisions and Back Termination of Joint Defense Agreement with UAE
Yemeni political parties and factions have announced their full support for the sovereign decisions issued by Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, describing them as a necessary response to the current phase and a decisive step to strengthen state institutions and protect Yemen’s national and regional security.
In a joint statement released today, the parties said their position stems from national responsibility and commitment to Yemen’s unity, sovereignty, stability, and territorial integrity, reaffirming their support for constitutional legitimacy and the coalition backing it.
The statement confirmed support for the measures included in Al-Alimi’s decisions, most notably the declaration of a state of emergency, the termination of the joint defense agreement with the United Arab Emirates, and calls for providing the necessary support to protect civilians and assist the armed forces in restoring security and stability.
The parties also endorsed the operation carried out by the coalition against an arms shipment smuggled into Mukalla port from Fujairah, praising the firm stance in support of Yemen’s legitimacy and the rejection of any interventions that undermine Yemen’s security or threaten regional stability.
Emphasizing the importance of maintaining stability and avoiding escalation, the statement called for continued responsible political engagement with southern components to address the southern issue within a comprehensive national political framework that respects state institutions.
The parties further urged the people of Hadramout and Al-Mahra, as well as all Yemenis, to unite around legitimate leadership and reject unilateral actions, stressing that the southern issue is a national cause to be resolved through an inclusive national process free from external agendas.
