New Delhi Declaration Reaffirms Support for Yemen’s Unity, Condemns Houthi Attacks on Maritime Navigation
The second meeting of the foreign ministers of the Republic of India and Arab countries reaffirmed their firm commitment to the unity, sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of the Republic of Yemen, stressing a categorical rejection of any interference in its internal affairs and condemning all actions aimed at undermining Yemen’s security or territorial unity.
In their final statement, known as the “New Delhi Declaration,” Arab and Indian foreign ministers expressed full support for Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council, the Yemeni government, and the efforts of the United Nations Special Envoy to Yemen, with the aim of achieving a comprehensive and sustainable peace based on agreed references.
The declaration also condemned the attacks carried out by the Houthi militias against maritime navigation, emphasizing that protecting the strategic Bab al-Mandeb Strait and the southern Red Sea is not only an Arab or regional responsibility, but a shared international responsibility and a global interest.
Furthermore, the New Delhi Declaration warned against any attempts that could undermine stability in the Gulf of Aden, the Arabian Sea, and the Indian Ocean.
