EU Allocates €80 Million in Humanitarian Aid for Yemen in 2025
The European Commission has announced a new commitment of €80 million (approx. $90.5 million) in humanitarian aid for Yemen in 2025, aiming to support millions affected by one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises.
In a statement released Wednesday, the Commission said the funds would be channeled through UN agencies and NGOs, focusing on food, healthcare (including malnutrition and epidemic response), water, sanitation, hygiene, and education.
The aid will also support protection programs, including mine clearance and awareness campaigns, to enhance civilian safety in conflict-affected areas.
The announcement coincided with the 7th Senior Officials Meeting on Yemen, held in Brussels and attended by EU Commissioner Hadja Lahbib, who reaffirmed the EU’s unwavering support for the Yemeni people and stressed that peace is the only path to a better future.
Meanwhile, 116 international and UN organizations have issued an urgent appeal to the international community, warning that Yemen faces an unprecedented catastrophe due to ongoing conflict, economic collapse, and climate change, with only 10% of the 2025 humanitarian response plan funded to date.
