Israel Carries Out Assassination Attempt on Houthi Chief of Staff in Sanaa: Reports Claim He Was Killed
According to U.S. outlet Axios, citing a senior Israeli official, Israel launched an airstrike in the Yemeni capital Sanaa targeting Major General Mohammed Abdul Karim al-Ghamari, Chief of Staff of the Iran-backed Houthi militia.
Israeli media outlets Yisrael Hayom and Yedioth Ahronoth reported that al-Ghamari was killed in the strike, which hit a secret compound where senior Houthi leaders were allegedly meeting.
Preliminary reports indicate the strike occurred near the Lebanese Hospital in the al-Sabeen district, triggering powerful explosions heard across the city. There are unconfirmed reports that Mahdi al-Mashat, head of the Houthi political council, may have been present at the time.
Sources told al-Mashhad al-Yemeni that the target was a high-security facility used for closed military meetings, with al-Ghamari and Abu Ali al-Hakim reportedly among those present.
The Houthis have yet to issue an official statement, while Israel continues to conduct simultaneous air operations in Iran and Yemen, amid Iran's seventh wave of missile attacks on Israel in retaliation for the "Rising Lion" operation launched by Tel Aviv on Friday.
