Saudi Arabia and Yemen Launch "Smart Food Cities" Initiative to Enhance Food Security and Economic Sustainability
Dr. Abdullah bin Mar'i bin Mahfuz, Chairman of the Saudi-Yemeni Business Council, announced a joint Saudi-Yemeni initiative to establish "Smart Food Cities" in the border regions between the two countries. The initiative will be unveiled during the Saudi-Yemeni Business Council Forum, scheduled for next Sunday in Mecca.

Dr. Mahfuz explained that the initiative aims to enhance food security in both Saudi Arabia and Yemen while creating a sustainable economic environment for cooperation in the food sector, particularly in light of regional and global challenges related to food supply chains.

He further noted that these smart food cities would rely on advanced technologies such as smart agriculture, smart irrigation, and renewable energy, aimed at improving the use of natural resources and boosting local food production. He expressed hope that the initiative would contribute to job creation for local populations and foster economic and social stability in the border regions.

Additionally, the Saudi-Yemeni Business Council recently met with the President of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi, to discuss strengthening trade and investment relations between the two countries. According to Okaz newspaper, this initiative is a strategic step toward achieving food security through investment in infrastructure and human resources.
