US Airstrikes Target Houthi-Controlled Port and Airport in Hodeidah, Yemen
On the evening of Saturday, April 19, 2025, multiple US airstrikes targeted strategic Houthi-controlled locations in Hodeidah, western Yemen, including the city’s port and airport, according to several media reports and local sources.

Eyewitnesses reported hearing over 10 explosions within a single minute, particularly in the Al-Katheeb area, where the Houthis operate a naval base, and in the eastern part of the city, which houses a Houthi-run airbase. Local sources confirmed that at least 13 air raids were carried out in total.

These strikes are part of a broader US aerial campaign launched on March 15, 2025, aimed at neutralizing the capabilities of the Iran-backed Houthi militia, especially in response to their escalating attacks on international shipping lanes in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.

Earlier, on April 17, US forces bombed the Ras Issa oil terminal north of Hodeidah with 14 strikes. Houthi authorities reported 80 people killed and at least 171 injured, most of them reportedly truck drivers and workers. Some were killed in secondary strikes while rescue operations were underway.

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) stated that the operation targeted key economic assets used by the Houthis to fund their military efforts. However, Houthi officials accused the US of deliberately attacking civilian infrastructure and committing war crimes.

The incident underscores the rising tensions in Yemen and the expanding scope of US military involvement in the region.
