Shocking Crime in Yemen: Houthi Militants Torture and Kill Woman, UN Remains Silent
Dozens of residents from the Durayhimi district and activists held a solidarity protest in the city of Al-Khokha to condemn a horrific crime committed by the Houthi group against Fatima Ayesh Ahmed, a 45-year-old woman, who was tortured to death after being abducted for two weeks.
According to a statement issued by the protesters, Fatima was abducted from her home in the "Markoda" displacement camp in Al-Shajira village on December 19, 2024. After being forcibly disappeared for two weeks, her body was found on December 28 in the Dakhnan Desert, northwest of the district, with severe signs of torture on her body.
The statement emphasized that this crime is not an isolated incident but part of a series of systematic violations by the Houthi group against civilians, including women and children, in the areas under their control.
This act of brutality reflects an unprecedented level of violence and a complete disregard for humanitarian and religious values, as well as a blatant violation of international law and basic human rights.
The statement also held the United Nations Mission to Support the Hudaydah Agreement (UNMHA) responsible for what they described as a "suspicious silence," which has enabled the Houthis to continue committing such crimes.
The protesters called on the international community and human rights organizations to strongly condemn the crime and take immediate action to hold the perpetrators accountable.
