174 Suspected Cases of Dengue, Cholera, and Measles Reported in Hadramout Coast Region
Health authorities in Hadramout Coast have reported 174 suspected cases of dengue, cholera, and measles since the beginning of the year, with no fatalities linked to these diseases recorded so far.
The Epidemiological Surveillance Department at the Hadramout Coast Health Office shared in a post on its Facebook account that the majority of the suspected cases were of dengue fever, with 86 cases reported, three of which were confirmed through rapid testing. Mukalla city recorded the highest number of cases, with 43 cases.
The report also indicated that there were 49 suspected cholera cases, most of which were observed in the Hajar area, and 39 suspected measles cases, with 14 of these cases occurring in Mukalla.
The report noted that about 99% of the recorded cases of the three diseases had recovered, with 172 cases recovering. However, it raised concerns that 67% of the measles cases were unvaccinated, highlighting the importance of vaccination in combating these diseases
